About Classical Kulture Pilates
Our Story
Classical Kulture Pilates was founded in response to a clear gap in the Pilates industry.
At the time this program was created, there were no Black-owned, Black-led classical Pilates teacher training programs. Classical Kulture was built to change that — while maintaining the highest standards of classical Pilates education.
In an industry increasingly dominated by fast-track certifications, this program was intentionally designed to address what we felt was missing from many traditional trainings: time, mentorship, depth, and true apprenticeship.
Our goal is not to produce large volumes of teachers, but to mentor and develop some of the best-prepared classical Pilates teachers in the industry. Apprentices are guided through the full system with care, accountability, and respect for the method, ensuring they graduate with both confidence and competence.
Classical Kulture is rooted in integrity, lineage, and access — creating space for excellence, representation, and the future of classical Pilates.
Meet Our Teacher Trainers
Alexa Idama, Atlanta
Alexa our Lead Trainer for the East Coast and is based in Atlanta Georgia. She is a 3rd generation Pilates Teacher with over 20 years of experience as a Trainer and Pilates teacher. She is the owner of Peachtree Pilates and founder of the social media platform Low Impact Fit. She is committed to the original teachings and method of Joseph Pilates as she has found that, both herself and her clients get best results when staying true to the original work. She is passionate about helping others discover the benefits of Pilates and aims to invite as many people into the space as possible, especially those that have traditionally been underrepresented in the industry.
Patty Dean, Los Angeles
Patty Dean is our Lead Trainer for the West Coast and is based in Los Angeles, California. She has over 20 years experience teaching Pilates. She is Patty has trained almost everyone, from well known celebrities, to the cast of the Lion King. She is the go to teacher for the staff of Actively Black.
Patty specializes in guiding clients to discover and fix imbalances in their bodies. Her programs are curated to produce life changing results. Patty was a Teacher Trainer at Equinox and is currently a Pilates consultant to high schools in the L.A. area, where she has helped establish two successful high school Pilates programs for teen athletes. She is a beacon in the Black community, creating a safe space on a weekly basis, where black women can practice classical Pilates. Patty is currently developing a line of Pilates merchandise specifically geared towards Black women and women of color.
